Martham Primary Garden Project

You may have noticed that the grassed area to the side of the school, near the school chickens, is being redeveloped.  We are very excited about this project, and we hope to create a wonderful and inspiring outdoor learning environment for all the children to enjoy.

We are very grateful to Andy Holland who has kindly agreed to give up his time to do the work.  We are currently seeking different funding sources to pay for the materials that need to be purchased.

So far the woodland area has been cleared and we plan to develop a learning area here with an insect hotel and bird boxes.  The chicken pen has been tidied up with shingle so our chickens are no longer bathing in mud!  The original vegetable patch is going to be divided up into individual beds and a wildflower garden will be grown along the back of this area.  All of this will be set amongst seating, information boards and other educational resources.  Ultimately, we plan to fence the area so it is safe for our younger children, but it will also be open for parents when collecting children at the end of the day.

This is an ongoing project, but we hope the main work will be finished around Easter so the children can start using the area in the Summer Term.  If you have any resources which you think might be useful that you are willing to donate then please speak to Mrs Partridge.  We will keep you updated on our progress.
