Cross Country Success

Congratulations to all the children who were chosen to represent Martham Primary at the East Norfolk Partnership Cross County Competition.
The event as held at Bure Park, Great Yarmouth on Tuesday 10th February. It saw the children competing against others of the same year groups from our cluster schools.
An excellent performance was achieved by all of our children especially the eleven who finished high enough to qualify for the County Finals in March.
Particular congratulations go to Oliver Shipp, Freya Tyack, Emily Fakes and Ben Newton who all won their races.

Project Bob update!

E5/6 have now completed their sessions with "Project Bob." They have worked hard and with enthusiasm, enjoying the various activities designed to develop their cycling skills.
The next session is on Monday 16th March for O5. Please remember your bicycles and helmets!

SK4 and AR1 share stories

The children in SK4 have been sharing stories with the younger children in AR1. They worked in small groups reading and discussing picture books which relate to the whole school topic of "Ship Ahoy!"
"We enjoyed working out questions and reading with them," Jamie Smart.
"Reading with AR1 was excellent, they listened and paid attention well," Martyn Scrivener.

Guess the number of Jellybeans in the jar competition

During the week before half term, all the classes had been estimating how many jellybeans were in a jar. They looked at the book ‘How Many Jelly Beans?’ and discussed different ways to estimate. Everyone had great fun looking at the jar and talking about the possibilities. Many children (and adults!) were surprised to find out just how many jelly beans there were in the jar! Several classes were very close with their estimates, but the closest, with an estimate of 424, was E5/6. They won the jar of jelly beans and enjoyed sharing them out!

(The total number in the jar was 418!)

Year 3/4 Netball Success

On Wednesday 4th February the Year 3/4 Netball team took part in a Hi 5 Netball tournament at Flegg High school against other schools.

They played 3 matches and won all of them. Over the course of the tournament they scored 13 goals and didn't concede any. A great result!

Congratulations to all the children involved.

Netball training for years 3 and 4 is held on Monday lunchtimes at 12:30.

P2 Reading Cafe

P2 recently held their Reading CafĂ©.

We read the Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch and then we made a model of our favourite meal.  We had all sorts of delicious meals from lasagne to jelly and ice-cream.

Later this term we will be growing things which we can put in our own healthy lunch.
Thanks to everyone who attended.

Monkeying about at Martham Primary!

We have a new troop of monkeys in school and they are looking forward to getting out and finding examples of Maths in everyday life. Every class across the school has one and children will be able to take turns in taking the monkey home with them.

We’re looking forward to seeing what they get up to!
