Can you help us with our school garden?

If you have any seeds, pots, pallets or garden tools that you don’t want anymore then please bring them in to school as we can put them to good use.

With lots of plastic pots we can make some of these wonderful flower pot people.

Any unwanted pallets will help us to build some of these great bug hotels.

If you have any resources we can use then please leave them by the shed or drop them off to Mrs Partridge.Thank you.

Choral Society sing at Gorleston Festival

The Choral Society sang at the Gorleston Festival on Wednesday 11th March. They entered two classes – singing in unison, for which they gained a distinction mark of 89%, and singing in two parts, for which they also gained a distinction mark of 87%. This meant they came second out of six choirs. The adjudicator commented on their amazing breath control and their clear diction, and several audience members spoke to Miss Wright about how well the children sang, especially as they performed with no conductor in front of them. Well done to all the children in the Choral Society!

Martham Primary are Norfolk County Champions!

Congratulations to the twenty children from Years 5 and 6 of Martham Primary School who represented the East Norfolk Schools Sports Partnership at the County Sportshall Athletics Finals. The event was held at the UEA on Friday 6th March as part of the Norfolk Schools Winter Games.

The children have been working hard since September to develop their skills in a variety of field and running events. In order to be chosen to represent the Partnership, they had to compete, earlier in the year, against other local schools in two competitions. On both occasions, they had to demonstrate determination and skill to overcome strong opposition.

In the County Final, they faced teams from the other seven Partnerships and again the competition was fierce. Their strengths, however, in the field events and most notably in soft javelin, speed bounce and chest push, were rewarded with maximum points.

When the scores from all events were totalled up, Martham Primary had achieved 268 points which meant that they were the overall winners and County Champions. Mrs King and Mr Wilson are very proud of their achievement.

Tag Rugby County Finals.

On Wednesday 4th March a group of eleven children from Martham Primary School travelled to Diss Rugby Club to take part in the Tag Rugby County Finals.

This competition was part of the Norfolk Winter School Games which saw teams from each of the eight Sports Partnerships in Norfolk competing against each other.

Throughout the day, the children played seven fast paced games, in which they displayed speed, agility and teamwork.

This was a relatively new sport to many of our children and although the results of their matches did not go in their favour they continued to battle and demonstrated a positive spirit until the end. Well done to all the children involved.

Cross Country Finals

Congratulations to the eleven children from Martham Primary School who qualified to represent the East Norfolk School Sports Partnership in the Cross Country Finals as part of the Norfolk Winter School Games Finals.

The event was held at Greshams School in Holt on Monday 2nd March. With over 650 children taking part, each year group from year 3 – 6 had a girls race and a boys race involving around 80 children from all over the county.

With high winds battering the runners as they tackled the challenging course around the school, the children all performed extremely well. Particular congratulations go to Ben Newton who finished 4th in the year 5 boys race.
